Certified Rebreather Diver

Posted under Courses & Diving & Fun diving

On the 1st of April (no this is not Aprils Fools), I completed my IANTD Poseidon Discovery MKVI rebreather training with Anja from DKDiver’s.

We where a group of divers, at the Kreidesee in Hemmoor, Germany.

On the 2nd and 3rd of April, I had my 4 first non training dives on my rebreather. And I am absolutly sure it is a good investment, I enjoyed every single dive.

Thanks to the rest of the divers for a great weekend in Germany.

Poseidon Discovery MKVI IANTD Training

Posted under Courses

Yesterday I started my training on my Poseidon Discovery MKVI rebreather.

It was like Christmas to unpack the equipment and assembling it. It was like getting Lego as a kid for Christmas.

Below here you can see some images from me (I am the one with the light gray t-shirt) and my friend Arne assembling and the final unit.

I Bought a Poseidon Discovery MK-VI Rebreather

Posted under Courses & Denmark & Diving

Back in 2006 I took a TDI Trimix course with Tekstreme in Sharm. My instructor was diving a Megalodan rebreather, and my interest did start.

I have been thinking about buying a Poseidon Discovery MK-VI Rebreather for a few years now. Last Wednesday I did it. I ordered the unit from Scansub DK Diver in Roskilde, Denmark.

So when the unit arrives from Sweden, I am going on an IANTD course, to learn to dive the unit.

I’ll be back with more information when I have had some experience on the unit.

The main reason I wan’t to dive a rebreather is to get longer bottom time without going into deco, and also to make less noise underwater when doing underwater photography. And of course a new toy is always fun :-)

On the 20th of October 2008, I had the pleasure of certifying Lise Thomsen as Padi Advanced Open Water Diver.

Therefore she now has the 150th dive certificate I have issued in my Diving Career :-)

Specialities:

Total dive certificates: 150

I have also issued 9 Emergency First Response certificates.

My plan is to become a Padi Master Instructor, I have issued enough certifications, but not of the correct type. At the moment, I need to certify 1 EFR, 4 Divemasters, and 5 Assistant Instructors to be able to apply.

I am now certified as Padi IDC Staff Instructor

Posted under Courses & Malta

From the 22th of October until the 29th of October I had the pleasure of being on Malta diving with Divewise.

During this period I did do the Padi IDC Staff instructor course. On the 27th of October I pass the course :-)

This was quite an interesting course, during which I followed an Assistant Instructor course, evaluating the students together with the Staff Instructor and Course Director doing the course.

Of course us IDC Staff Instructor students where being evaluated as well, we had to do the 20 skill circuit, with a score of minimum 4 for each skill. We had to do teaching presentation, and confined water presentations as well.

In the standards written exam there was 40 questions, and we had to have at least 80% correct, I had a single error which mean I had 97.5% correct :-)
In the theory exam there was 5 sections of each 20 questions, again we must have at least 80% correct. I had 100% correct in 4 of them, and a single error in the RDP/Wheel exam. I am VERY pleased with my result :-)

I am really looking forward to do my first Assistant instructor course.

Here you can see some pictures of the Staff Instructors candidates and the Assistant Instructors candidates.
