Last sunday I had the pleasure of trying out my new drysuit, a Ursuit Heavy Light Kevlar BDS drysuit.

Until now I have been using my Waterproff Centus neopren drysuit, which worked pretty well, but I wanted a drysuit with front zipper.

The new Kevlar drysuit is only 3,6 kg, I did choose the version where I need to wear Rock Boots, instead of build in boots in the suit.
Makes it a lot easy to put on, and the shoes sits tighter on my feet.

You can read more about the drysuit here: Information

I bought the suit at Scansub DKDivers in Roskilde.

I borrowed the pictures below from the Ursuit website.

Poseidon Announces
Rebreather Technical Upgrades Program

Poseidon Diving Systems announced today their program for technical upgrades of the Discovery MK VI rebreather. The program will deliver 3 key upgrades: 40M Deco, 45M Tri-Mix and 60M Tri-Mix. All current owners of Discovery MK VIs will be able to use these upgrades as they become available.

Poseidon’s tech upgrade program has been designed with 2 key objectives in mind:

To allow all existing and future Discovery MK VI owners to expand the performance range of their MKVIs beyond the recreational envelope, should they wish to do so

To enable Dive Instructors to teach both recreational and technical courses on the MK VI

40M Deco: Firmware upgrade, using air as diluent

45M Tri-Mix: Firmware upgrade, using Normoxic Tri-Mix as diluent, with a choice of helium fractions

60M Tri-Mix: Firmware and hardware upgrade, allowing for manual addition

Upgrade pricing and availability will be announced at DEMA in November, along with certification levels required for each upgrade. All current and future Discovery MK VI owners will be able to use these upgrades.
Peter Swartling

CEO
Founded in Sweden in 1958, Poseidon has been a leader in innovation, quality and safety in the diving industry for over 50 years. Poseidon’s revolutionary recreational rebreather, the Discovery MKVI, allows recreational divers to enjoy the many great benefits of rebreathers. Benefits include tripling average dive time, warm breathing gas and silent, bubble-free operation that allows divers to become part of the underwater environment and not just visitors.

A few days ago I finally received my Drysuit, a Waterproof Cetus model.

Features (Borrowed from Waterproof website)

• Latex Wrist Seals – allows the flexibility to use any mfg’s dry-glove ring system.
• Warm Neck – Now we have improved our frequently imitated Warm Neck design to even better performance.
• A separate hood fits underneath the warm neck collar.
• Because of the shaping of the CETUS, there are no seams in the under arm area or in the crotch area, where any wrinkling will cause wearing.
• The boots are extended in the rear calf area, which facilitates an easy step in.
• Reinforced soft boots ensure ultimate strength and flexibility.
• The Boots are cut on an angle to minimize ankle and calf stress while finning.
• Chill Guard. Under the Dry Zip, it not only keeps body heat in, it also keeps your undergarments out of the zipper for trouble free operation.
• A Seat that Grips – Poly-urethane embossing in the back provides a no-slip grip and integrated abrasion protection.
• Knee Guards – PU-injection molded knee guards provide hard-core protection without compromising comfort and flexibility.
• Anatomical Sculpting – with 3 dimensionally sculpted arms and legs Cetus provides an anatomical fit designed for human movement.
• Each suit is tested by an overpressure check.
• SI-TECH valves, swiveling inlet valve and automatic outlet valve.

My termal protection is a 4th Element Xerotherm Arctic very nice and very warm.

Until now I have only been diving in a wetsuit, also a Waterproof model. But I have now been diving in a wetsuit since 2001, and was starting to get annoyed that the water here in Denmark was to cold in the winter. So I ordered the drysuit, custom made for my figure.

Today was the first time I dived in it, together with a diving friend Keld, we went to the harbour in Copenhagen to dive near a power plant the H.C. Ørsted Værket.

We jumped in at the mark, then we dived following the north wall, for about 15 minutes and turned around.

Dive Data:

Logged dive number:

538

Date:

05/04-2008

Time:

13:43

Location:

Copenhagen Harbour at H.C. Ørsted Værket

Dive time:

Average depth:

Air usage

84 bar on a 12 liter tank

Air usage was to high, but I was playing with the boyance in the suit

There wasn’t anything interesting to see, but it was great to dive a Drysuit. Specially after the dive, where i just took it off and was dry, compared to squeeze out of my wetsuit, and being cold and wet.
